Questions:

Do you see any patterns?

Based on only this paragraph it is hard to make out any clear patterns. I feel like I used to use a lot of transitions and in some cases I do usually use many pointing terms but It seems like I do not rely on either. Most of the sentences I start out with don’t use transitions, and if I need to address something earlier in the essay, I will address it by name instead of using a pointing term.

Do you rely on certain devices more than others?

It looks like the device that I use the most is transitions. Some transitions that I’ve used are “with this”, “Because these”, “When it comes to”, “Although this is true,”, etc.  I don’t have many repetitive sayings, and I don’t have too many key terms or pointing terms. I feel that transitions are the most important out of all of these so I would say it is a good thing.

Are there any passages that are hard to follow–and if so, can you make them easier to read by trying any of the other devices discussed in this chapter?

I would say that all of my sentences make sense and have a flow. I don’t overuse any of these devices, but I could probably incorporate some more in order to have better essays overall.
